SATURDAY NIGHT LIFE SERMON ( 15 August 2009 )
S.H.A.P.E What's Next?
There is no one like you! You're unique. (:
After we know our shape, we need to know how to move our shape towards the kingdom's purpose! *important point to think about.
We will gain a new perspective and understanding only when we go through the journey.
If you want to see your life successful, you need to work on the things you have and not stay silent or stagnant.
All the sugar rush/adrenaline rush/excitement are temporal. Only God's things are eternal.
If you know it, verbalize it. And when you do it, give God the glory!
Three steps in finding your kingdom dream:
1) Connect with God.
- God is always pursuing us and calling out for us. We just need to respond by saying hello. It is just that simple.
John 15:5
5"I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
- We need to connect to God in order to have a fruitful life.
- We need to pray, listen and immerse in God's words.
- Some verses for references:
- Proverbs 3:4-5
- John 14:21
- Acts 20:24
- Jeremiah 29:11
- We need to be real and vulnerable to God in our lives.
- Connect to God, and He will show you the things of His heart.
2) Realize your kingdom purpose.
- Ask yourself! Are you truly alive? Or are you just purely living?
- Dream that dream that you have, and work on it.
- Seize the dream, and God will expand your dream so big that you can never imagine.
Ephesians 3:20 (The message)
20God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us.
- Instead of asking God to do something about it, Nehemiah took up the role of it and when he does it, he realize that it is actually His kingdom purpose.
- Some verses for references:
- Philippians 4:13
- Psalms 37:4
3) Activate your natural best.
- Natural best is area where your shape is best at.
Romans 12:6-8
6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to hisfaith. 7If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.
If we work accordingly, we would not feel like we are at work at all.
- Natural best = cross junction of heart (passion) and SHAPE.
- Don't go anywhere, just focus on one.
- How can you do it? - By discovering where your heart is.
In conclusion, this quote made by eric is really meaningful.
I believe God made me for a purpose. He also make me __________________, and when I ____________________, I feel His pleasure. Fill in the blanks with yours. And dream it, live it out, with your SHAPE, and see God bring this whole thing to a past! :D
