Title: Ability (Discovering what you are naturally good at)
Romans 12:6 (New International Version)
6We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his[a]faith.
Show me a person who doesn't know his talents or hasn't developed them for services to others and i will show you a person who has little sense of purpose, meaning, motivation and value.
Tom Paterson
Sometimes, the abilities that God had given you in right in front you. (God will not want to give you the abilities that you ought to have and yet hide so much that you find it hard to discover it)
1 Samuel 16:10-13 (New International Version)
10 Jesse had seven of his sons pass before Samuel, but Samuel said to him, "The LORD has not chosen these." 11 So he asked Jesse, "Are these all the sons you have?"
"There is still the youngest," Jesse answered, "but he is tending the sheep."
Samuel said, "Send for him; we will not sit down [a] until he arrives."
12 So he sent and had him brought in. He was ruddy, with a fine appearance and handsome features.
Then the LORD said, "Rise and anoint him; he is the one."
13 So Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the presence of his brothers, and from that day on the Spirit of the LORD came upon David in power. Samuel then went to Ramah.
Knowing that he (David) is going to be the future king he still:
1.Wakes up early in the morning to tend the sheep
- Even when he knowing that he is going to be the future king, he is still being responsible on the sheep that he had been assigned to.
2.Obey what the father say
1 Samuel 17:15 (New International Version)
15 but David went back and forth from Saul to tend his father's sheep at Bethlehem.
3.Faithful in the small little thing that he doing
1 Samuel 17:17-19 (New International Version)
17 Now Jesse said to his son David, "Take this ephah [a] of roasted grain and these ten loaves of bread for your brothers and hurry to their camp. 18 Take along these ten cheeses to the commander of their unit. [b] See how your brothers are and bring back some assurance
[c] from them.
19 They are with Saul and all the men of Israel in the Valley of Elah, fighting against the Philistines."
Even when David is small and weak in his position, he still has the heart that want to do big things (and that is to kill Goliath)
Today you will not hear any story about any stone, goliath, or even David if he chose not to obey his father at the start.
GREAT ACCOMPLISHMENT START WITH SIMPLE OBEDIENCE
Besides that, most great accomplishment always starts with something small; and only if we will be faithful in doing those small things then God will promote you for greater you.
The abilities you do are a strong indication of what God wants you to do with your life. They are clues to knowing God's will for you... God doesn't waste abilities; he matches our calling and our capabilities
Rick Warren
Some of our abilities are still yet to be showcase because of our laziness
Matthew 25:14-15 (New International Version)
The Parable of the Talents
14"Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his property to them. 15To one he gave five talents[a] of money, to another two talents, and to another one talent, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey
With the talents and abilities that God had given us, we need to invest it for more. We must have the heart that is willing to take risk and not fearful to fail for us to invest our talents
When you start to invest your talents, your abilities will grow as God add more and more onto you.
We must bury our talent but USE IT MIGHTY FOR GOD.
