Title: overcoming loneliness

Do you know tat being lonely doesn't nid to be alone?
You can be lonely even with a bunch of good friends around you!

Marriage cannot solve your lonely problems!

We live in a loneliness producing society where rapid change and modern technology discourage intimacy and stimulate loneliness, even in home and churchs, ppl avoid each other, only to throw themselves blindly into open sharing with strangers.

you may ask 'how we avoid ppl at home?'
wells when we r so caught up in the internet/ computer games, we tend to not talk to our parents or avoid talking as it will 'distract' our game which may cus us to lose

We bring loneliness to ourselves
Situation tat are beyond our control, we will feel lonely.

2Tim 4:6
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time has come for my departure

4 Things that causes loneliness:

1) Transition
Life is full of transition
what is transition?
it is a period of time where we changeover, example a guy gg into NS, he is gg through a stage of transition

2) separation

3) opposition

4) Rejection
->the most hurting cause

How to deal with loneliness?
here are the self-destructive ways(not supposed to be used by us)

->Drink alcohol and forget about all things
->Shun yourself away from relations
->cause urself to hav addiction/ escaping from reality
-> solutry confinement(isolate urself from the world)

4 things tat Paul did to overcome loneliness
1) make the best out of the situation
-> Do whatever you can when you are lonely

2) Focus on the positive
->Don't exaggerate your loneliness
Proverbs 23:7
for he is the kind of man who is always thinking about the cost. "Eat and drink," he says to you, but his heart is not with you.
You are what you think you are

When we feel resentful, we would not be able to do productive things. resentful thoughts brings loneliness.

2 ships can travel at different directions with the same wind that blow, it is nt the direction of the wind which determines where you go, but its the direction of the sail tat determines where you go

philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

3) Recognise God's presence
Paul said ' the Lord stand at my side and gave me strength
Jesus said: I will not leave you as orphans(John14:18)
I will not leave you comfortless(John14:18 KJV)
I will nvr leave nor forsake you(Heb13:5)

4) Get caught up in serving and not being served.

2Timothy 4:17
But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that the message might be preached fully through me, and that all the Gentiles might hear. Also I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion

when we feel lonely, its a hint tat we nid to spend time with God

we are most Godly when we are serving and giving, as God is a God of giving and Jesus is the greatest servant.
